Elevate U with Ifeanyi; Are you Ready to Pay the Price?

Have you ever been to a grocery store before? Have you ever spotted something you wanted really badly in those shops before? I guess you have. Has it ever happened that you approached that item with the intention of taking it home until the price tag discouraged you? You want the item but you are not ready to deal with its cost.

Why are some people richer than others? Why are some more successful and others deeper in debt?

We all want to lead a successful life. We all want to ride in our dream cars. Everyone wants to have good money sitting in their bank accounts. Nobody wants to be a tenant. Everyone wants at least a comfortable and decent life. We all want to retire with good enough money to sustain us for the rest of our lives. No student enjoys ending the session bottom of the class.

As dumb as this may sound, we all know what to do to get what we want, but not many people seem to want to do it. We all want good stuff but almost everyone wants to pick them from the shelves and walk away without paying for them.

Success is not by accident and nothing good comes easy. For every good thing we desire, there is a price attached, without which we may not have it. Each year we make resolutions, set goals and try to keep moving. Many times, we have carried on with life as if we had not set those goals and at the end, we still come back to meet empty resolutions and plans that are not anywhere near execution.

If you see a poor young man with little or no opportunity who is likely to succeed and become someone tomorrow, you’ll not need the brains of an astronaut or a prophet to recognize this. His approach to his business, his zeal, his persistence, diligence and thoroughness will tell the whole story.

On a beautiful morning in September 1957, Dorothy Counts took a courageous step that would half a century later motivate future generations. She was African-American who lived in the days of clear-cut racism and cruel segregation. She walked into an all-white high school to get registered. Her sight and arrival was treated just the way a rotten egg would have been treated. The boys jeered profusely, they taunted, abused and even threw thrash. How do you stand your ground and not give up when children spit at you and push you around in sheer mockery while the older ones laugh and giggle without saying a word just because you want to get an education? But Dorothy’s heart was set: she wanted college education and until she got it, she wasn’t going to let anyone make her go away and I tell you, she laughed last.

I have come across some people for want of a better phrase I refer to as ‘excuse professionals’. O! I may not be able to go to the gym, today is not so good a day. We just can’t bear any comparison with that brand, they are far too ahead. The reason why I am not performing well at my job is because of my boss. I can never get good grades, my teacher is the cause. I can never be that rich no matter how much I tried. I am broke simply because of my husband.

Spend just five minutes with some people and you’d be sure to get a hundred excuses why they can’t do this or that.

But then some of the people making these excuses may just be sincerely ignorant. The truth is no matter how good or interesting your excuse may be, it won’t pay the bills, no matter how sincere or ignorant you may be, people pay for results, and until you produce the desired results, you may as well decide not to wake up that day.

You could have an ocean of excuses why you would never be successful, why you may never be rich, why you may not be able to bear any comparison with the man or woman you are competing with but as someone rightly put it is that if we fail to dream, then we would spend our entire lifetime helping other people to build their dreams.

Get up take responsibility, go to work and challenge your status. You can achieve any goal no matter how lofty it may seem if only you’ll never give up at paying the price.

Jude Okoye, And Other Family Members Not Happy With Peter Okoye's Marriage

On Sunday, November 17, 2013, Lagos stood still for Psquare‘s Peter Okoye and fiancée Lola Omotayoas the couple held their traditional wedding ceremony, surprisingly elder brother Jude Okoye was missing.

Social network has been buzzing. The twins’ publicist Bayo Adetu tells NET Jude was missing at the wedding because he was stuck in Ghana. Psquare had performed in Accra, Ghana at the ‘Glo and Bounce Slide‘ tour the night before. Adetu says Jude missed his flight and couldn’t get back to Lagos in time for the nuptials.
But a source who was part of another artiste’s entourage to Ghana for the concert says Jude Okoye did NOT travel to Ghana. ‘We didn’t see him, the twins were here with their band but we didn’t see Jude‘, our source who’d rather stay anonymous tells NET.
There are few instances pointing to the fact that Jude did not travel with his Pop star twin brothers to Ghana for the concert: Jude, a regular user of photo sharing Instagram never fails to post photos of their trip outside Nigeria – there were no photos of him aboard the airplane heading to GH, photos of the twins performing at the concert.
One source asks: ‘If he was truly stuck in Ghana, wouldn’t he have even lamented on Twitter like D’banj?‘.
Instead Jude posted a photo of himself and Wizkid in the studio. The picture is believed to have been taken a night before at the Mavin Records studio where he had been working with Don Jazzy, Dr SID, Phyno and others.
Inside sources in the Okoye family tell NET that Jude Okoye and a few other family members did not support their brother’s marriage to his baby mama Lola Omotayo. Some sources also also claim their late mother never supported the relationship too.
‘Jude and some others don’t like her. They never gave their blessing for the marriage. Paul too, but he is his twin. Other family members who were there were reluctant to attend. Jude didn’t go because he never supported the idea from day one‘, a family source tells us.
Some of the Okoye family members have even gone as far as insinuating that Lola Omotayo has allegedly constantly cheated on Peter Okoye. NET gathered there have been demands for a DNA test to really ascertain whether his children Cameron and Aliona are truly his. ‘It’s that serious, they claim Lola sleeps around with her so called ‘uncles’, they want a DNA test done, they just want to protect their brother‘.
WE could not independently confirm these allegations, and Adetu insists there are no issues, that Jude was only MIA because he was stuck in Ghana. One of the couple’s friends also told us all these are ‘wicked rumours’. ‘Wicked, false rumours. Nothing can be more false and distasteful. They should leave them alone and let them have peace…’
Lola currently lives in a mansion in Park View estate, Ikoyi. The Okoyes are currently building their new home somewhere not to far from there. It is uncertain where the couple will make their home.
Jude Okoye has been working with Psquare, his younger brothers since they released their first album ‘Last Nite‘ under Timbuk2 Music label back in 2003.

The Next Big Thing! Discover 5 Secrets to Brilliant Million-dollar Ideas In Click

By Ifesinachi Okoli-Okpagu

With the easy access across distance and markets the Internet gives us, it’s easy to see how anyone can become a millionaire overnight, but it’s terribly frustrating when you can’t seem to find the next big idea that will rock the entire world, or at least, the entire country.
The good news, though, is that it does not take a PhD holder to hit the next big idea. Remember most of the world’s youngest millionaires are actually college drop-outs or did not do very well in school. Mark Zuckerberg, anyone?

This, of course, does not discredit the role of education in ideas building, but rather points to the fact that a creative mind is one who interprets ideas rather than soaks in ideas. In fact, let me let you in on a secret: the best and most profitable ideas are ones that disrupt markets and create entirely new markets out of existing ones.
So, without beating around the bush, here are five ways to help you disrupt markets and pinpoint the next big thing:

Secret No. 1: Observe Lifestyles
Fact: People will buy anything that will make their life easier, better, healthier or make them more beautiful, more socially accepted or more interesting.
What this means is that if you study the lifestyles of people, you will often find ideas to achieve any of the mentioned above.
I recently heard about a business by a Nigerian lady that illustrates this point. The business is about creating diet cakes and sugar crafts for people keen on watching their weight. At first I thought “how is this possible seeing that cakes and all are about high fat content?” Until I became intrigued listening to the owner at a recently concluded conference about how she studied the market and researched on the products until she found ingredients that could replace the offending high-fat ingredients, without compromising on the taste of her pastries!
Her products cater to a small segmented market, but it is obvious that they are many many people who would want to buy her products as they make people healthier.

Secret No. 2: Study Existing Processes
Think Internet banking. How has it made banking easier and less stressful for customers? Think online air ticket booking like Wakanow.com. Has it made travelling easier?
Many of us neglect what is right in front of us. Rather, we keep looking for grandiose ways of making money. How many times have we complained about a process or a task and actually studied that process to see if you can proffer a solution to reduce the processes and increase efficiency?
Simple processes like paying for your children school fees to more complex ones like studying the way departments in companies handle their day-to-day activities can be eye opening and suggest to you one or two ideas that may break bank.

Secret No. 3: Look out for Often Neglected Markets
Recently, I was discussing with a dear mentor and I pointed out that in Nigeria, the children are a very often neglected market. Even with the number of new programmes struggling for airtime on television stations, children still do not have quality local programmes to enjoy, which is a huge opportunity. Ooops! I just let out an idea.
Last week, I stumbled on a small business which offers mobile crèche services to events and parties. The founder discovered that many times, mothers make up a large population of events and may have no one to look after their children at home. The mobile crèche is of course the perfect solution as mothers can enjoy the event and still check on their children every few minutes.
There are many other often neglected markets that may seem small (such as old people, small businesses, etc), but if you consider playing in a field where you enjoy a position of dominance, think how much you can make!

Secret No. 4: Study the  Smallest chores/Habits
This is one of my favourites. Ever heard of the bag holder? It is a very tiny metal handle which ladies can use to anchor their handbags to a chair or a table anywhere, anytime. This means that those lovely Louis Vuittons, etc never have to share floor space, and you know how ladies are particular about their handbags.
The bag holder is an incredible simple idea yet it is not one you would think of just like that except you pay attention to the tiniest habits and chores of our everyday lives.
Simple habits like forgetting your car keys in the morning, never waking up to your alarm and even doing your laundry can provide big million-dollar ideas.
So start looking.

Secret No. 5: Daydream, Get creative and Collaborate!
Finally, expand your lateral thinking. If you own a poultry that only sells birds and eggs, why not think of converting the use of your products and extending your supply chain? If you sell services, think of ways to convert a portion of your services to products. If you think it might be more work and you are not ready to manage the production just yet, think of COLLABORATION, the magic word of this decade.

I recently read an article online on a travel content creation blog. What this website does is to tell you extraordinary places around the world you can visit. At the end of each article, the website gives readers the opportunity to partake in deals from partner hotels, bed and breakfasts, restaurants and many other awesome resorts, and in exchange these places get exposure, more visits, more money while the website gets paid for advertising. Talk about profitable collaboration.

The long and short is that you can be doing more with what you have. Never be afraid of partnerships as businesses can often benefit from long-term or even short-term partnerships.
Get creative!
